John Howell, who is tied for 7th in the EL in quality starts with 10, propelled his team to victory over the Somerset Patriots. The final score was 6-1, Gateway. The 8th-place Grizzlies have a record of 45-56.

In the bottom of the second, Sawyer Kleffner delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Gateway second baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Grizzlies in front, 6-1.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Kleffner told the Gateway Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."
