The Halifax Frigates faced a tough opponent in Bowie pitcher Norman Fear, but did just enough to pull out the victory at MGM Park by a final score of 6-3. Fear went 6 innings and allowed 5 runs. Halifax's record now stands at 49-62, placing them 7th in the Eastern League North Division.
Jeremiah Hagen had a big 3-run home run for the Frigates in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Halifax leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from Norman Fear, who is tied for 9th in the EL in innings pitched with 131.1, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Frigates ahead, 5-1.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Hagen. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
