Patriots Handle Sea Dogs, Grab 4-1 Win
|
The Somerset Patriots beat the Portland Sea Dogs at Arm & Hammer Park. The final score was 4-1, in favor of Somerset. Kevin Benson led the way, going 2-for-3 for the home team. Somerset, at 73-46, holds down second place in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
Vince Lu had a big 2-run home run for the Patriots in the bottom of the second inning. With Somerset leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Lincoln Tolson and swatted a home run to right. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 4-1.
Afterward, Patriots manager Alex Chavez said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
