Hartford Scrapes Out 4-3 Win
|
The Hartford Yard Goats and Portland Sea Dogs completed their game despite the rain.
The Hartford Yard Goats topped the Portland Sea Dogs, 4-3, in Eastern League action at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hartford pitcher Matt Valentine. Cliff Zhang earned the save for Hartford, his 2nd.
The Yard Goats grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, 25-year old third baseman Graham McKenny hit a 3-run home run off Yency Arreola, putting Hartford in front, 3-1. For McKenny, it was his 9th home run of the season.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Hartford manager Bill Medina.
The Yard Goats, at 45-88, sit in last place in the Eastern League North Division.
