The Tennessee Smokies downed the Rocket City Trash Pandas, 4-1, at Smokies Park. Stellar pitching by Justin Lorenson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Zeph Nocar notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Ivan Peters earned the save for Tennessee, his 1st.
In the bottom of the seventh, Tennessee second baseman Alex Gordon hit a run-scoring single to right-center field. The clutch hit made it 2-1, Smokies.
Lorenson called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
Rocket City drops to 1-2.
