Drillers Slap 2-1 Loss on Missions
|
Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium was the site of the home opener for the San Antonio Missions. The contest featured a prime matchup between K.J. Jackson of the visiting Tulsa Drillers and Paul Sutton of the Missions. The final score was 2-1, the Drillers getting the win. K.J. Jackson turned in the best performance. The winning pitcher was Jackson, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Nick Turner earned the save, his 1st, for the Drillers.
It could have been a different outcome for Tulsa, had it not been for Marco Marte, the 23-year old first baseman . Marte contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Tulsa up, 2-0.
Jackson was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Tulsa Daily, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
