The Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Alexandria Aces, 8-4, at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Hooks got a fine performance from third baseman Desmond Masters, who was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Roger Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Rodney Porter was tagged with the loss. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Hooks hope to make a postseason run.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Odon Parada? The Corpus Christi left fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Hooks on top, 5-1. For the game, Parada had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
