Frigates Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
The Halifax Frigates got a superb performance from pitcher Lee Vincent, but the Somerset Patriots still won the game, 5-3. Vincent threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Juan Avina came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Jayden Mays closed the game out for Somerset, earning his 1st save.
Somerset used a clutch hit from Sam Ross to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Patriots ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt good up there," said Ross. "I saw the ball well."
The win gives Somerset a record of 5-6.
