RoughRiders Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Shuckers, 4-3
|
The Frisco RoughRiders overcame a fine performance by Biloxi third baseman Henry Elick to defeat the Shuckers, 4-3, at Biloxi Grounds. Elick went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. The RoughRiders have hit the ground running, raising their record to 7-3. While it's still too soon to talk about Frisco hoisting their 11th AA Championship Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
The RoughRiders beat the Shuckers with some clutch hitting. The single by Logan Mulder in the top of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Mulder gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.
Mulder said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
