Multi-HR Day for Billingsley as Engineers Overpower RockHounds, 9-3
|
With designated hitter Eugene Billingsley leading the charge, the Shreveport Engineers defeated the Midland RockHounds, 9-3, at Security Bank Ballpark. Billingsley, who is tied for 9th in the SL in doubles with 4, belted 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Jaylen Lance. He tossed 92 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Andy Scott earned the save for Shreveport, his 1st.
With Shreveport leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Billingsley came up to bat against Midland pitcher Alex Parent. Billingsley hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Engineers on top, 7-2.
"Whatever it takes to win," said Billingsley. "That's our attitude."
Midland now is 6-7.
