Frigates Trump RubberDucks, 3-0
|
The Akron RubberDucks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dudley Bennett into a win. Instead, the Halifax Frigates prevailed, 3-0. Bennett threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Frank Szalai collected save number 5. Akron now has a record of 6-6.
Halifax first baseman Ty Wright contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a forkball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Frigates ahead, 2-0.
Wright said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
