Flying Squirrels Lose By a Run at Tennessee, 2-1
|
The Tennessee Smokies did just enough to sneak past the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels, 2-1, at Smokies Park. Tennessee pitcher Jimmy Marsh, in particular, had a standout performance. With the win, Tennessee lifts its record to 11-12.
Tennessee designated hitter Jimmy Pok contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball into left field for a 2-run single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Smokies ahead, 2-0.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Marsh.
