Starting pitcher Stephen McGeary fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Mississippi Braves stymie the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 4-2. The winning pitcher was McGeary, now 2-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Bo Hughey earned his 9th save, after closing out the game.
Mississippi used the hitting of Drake Gregory to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Braves on top, 3-0. For the game, Gregory had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Mississippi manager Sandy Estrada was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
Mississippi has now won 3 in a row.
