Pitcher J.J. Long was rock solid in helping the Biloxi Shuckers beat the Corpus Christi Hooks, 6-1. The 7th-place Shuckers go to 15-21.

Ben Hodel had a big 2-run home run for the Shuckers in the bottom of the first inning. With Biloxi leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Dylan Lowry and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Shuckers on top, 4-0.

"J.J. was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Biloxi manager Dave Donnelly.
