The Montgomery Biscuits could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Marlon Valdez into a win. Instead, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp prevailed, 3-2. Valdez threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. At 16-17, the Jumbo Shrimp are currently 5th in the Southern League Southeast Division.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Jacksonville. That's when Tyson Mongiovi hit a solo home run off fireballing left-hander Doug Boley to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Mongiovi.
