The Wichita Pilots defeated the Halifax Frigates, 9-3, at Regions Field. Wichita second baseman Pepper Payne had a superb performance. He went 3-5 with 3 singles. Getting the save was Micah McDevitt, his 1st. The win gives Wichita a record of 7-7.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Payne, who leads the EL in stolen bases with 8, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Pilots into the lead, 4-3.

"Winning is always a team effort," Payne said after the game.
