The Wichita Pilots powered past the Halifax Frigates, 9-3, at Regions Field. Powell Short went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. Julian De La Cruz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 3-0. Halifax, now 3-13, has gotten off to a terrible start.
Parker Tovar, who is tied for 9th in the EL with a .442 on-base percentage, chipped in for Wichita with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
