Shuckers Double Up RockHounds, 6-3
|
The Biloxi Shuckers defeated the Midland RockHounds, 6-3, at Biloxi Grounds. Raj Soekhai was one of the standouts for Biloxi. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. The winner in relief was Conway Arendt. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. The Shuckers sit in 4th place in the Southern League Southeast Division with a record of 28-26.
The Shuckers got a big at-bat from second baseman Porter Kaplan. For the game, Kaplan was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Biloxi a 2-0 lead.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Soekhai told a Biloxi Today reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
