The Shreveport Engineers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jerom Hughes, who muffled the Arkansas offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Engineers win at Dickey-Stephens Park. Teo Hegeman closed it out for his 1st save. After today's action, Shreveport sits at 37-21, while Arkansas falls to 38-20.
The Engineers benefited from an error in the top of the second inning. Shreveport was leading 1-0 when Ramiro Boyer hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Shreveport in front, 2-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Hughes. "Successful pitchers do it."
