Quill Delivers Walk-Off Win for Flying Squirrels
|
St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels starter Solomon Gray found his groove in his team's 5-4 win over the Arkansas Travelers. The win belonged to Wilder Macaya in relief. His record improves to 2-4. A.J. Khairallah took the loss for Arkansas. St. Petersburg, at 29-33, occupies 7th place in the Southern League Southeast Division.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old center fielder Gael Quill had a real shot to win the game. Arkansas pitcher A.J. Khairallah was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Quill hit a 2-run single. The Flying Squirrels had a walk-off triumph.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Gray.
