Scouts Topple Engineers, 2-0
|
The Chattanooga Scouts beat the Shreveport Engineers, 2-0. Chattanooga pitcher and Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaii, native Nicolas Franklin led the way. Franklin got the win, improving to 5-5. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Mike Mears earned the save for Chattanooga, his 3rd.
Chattanooga catcher Desmond Peterman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 37th hit of the season and put the Scouts ahead, 2-0.
"Runs were at a premium," said Chattanooga manager Fletcher Goolsby.
The 5th-place Scouts have a record of 37-28.
