Engineers Reel-In 6-2 Win Over Scouts
|
Shreveport Engineers starter Stephen Montgomery pitched effectively against the Chattanooga Scouts at AT&T Field. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 6-2 win. Montgomery yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 8-2. Shreveport now sits at 32-36, while Chattanooga falls to 39-29.
It could have been a different outcome for Shreveport, had it not been for Godwin Martino, the 25-year old shortstop . Martino contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Shreveport up, 1-0.
"That was awesome. Really, really impressive, what Stephen did," said Shreveport manager Dustin Booth.
