The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp easily defeated the Midland RockHounds, 13-1, at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, with first baseman Ezra Simmons a main contributor to the win. He was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for Jacksonville. The winner was Rodney Stewart in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Fernando Jiménez took the loss. The first-place Jumbo Shrimp have a record of 55-14.
The Jumbo Shrimp got a big at-bat from second baseman Bernardo García. For the game, García was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Jacksonville a 4-0 lead.
