The Alexandria Aces picked up a win at Blue Wahoos Stadium, downing the Tulsa Drillers, 6-3. On the mound for Alexandria was right-hander Joe Thompson, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Alexandria reliever Chad Thomas Jr., now 3-4. The loser was Henry Ivy. Alexandria is in second place in the Southern League Texas Division with a record of 40-31.
Had Joey Britt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Britt hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Aces.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Britt.
