Metros Clip RubberDucks, 2-1
|
Robert Lahman pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Akron RubberDucks, despite Lahman's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Quebec Metros at Metros Ballpark. Jess Niemi closed the game out for Quebec, earning his 4th save. The loss drops Akron to 14-3.
Tito Vidrio had a big run-scoring double for the Metros in the bottom of the third inning. With Quebec leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Robert Lahman and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Metros ahead, 2-0.
"Good ballgame," said Akron manager Damon Cordero. "But we came up on the short end."
