Smokies Suffer 3-0 Loss to Missions
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. But Courtney Wilson conjured up just enough offense to carry the Missions past the Tennessee Smokies, 3-0. Wilson threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. In 7.2 innings, Wilson surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The current losing streak for Tennessee has reached 4 games.
The game could have flipped with no one out in the top of the sixth. But Courtney Wilson made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Tennessee trailing 2-0, Wilson threw a cutter to Graham O'Neill and O'Neill hit into a double play.
