Drillers Trump Biscuits, 8-7
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Joel Shelly, the Montgomery Biscuits lost to the Tulsa Drillers, 8-7. Shelly went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Burton Caparella closed it out for his 15th save. The Drillers saw their win-loss record go to 52-35. At the same time, the Biscuits fell to 52-35.
Randolph Kistner had a big 2-run double for the Drillers in the bottom of the second inning. With Tulsa trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Catfish Crest, who leads the SL in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Drillers ahead, 4-3.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Tulsa manager Bruno Lawrence.
