The Frisco RoughRiders defeated the Tennessee Smokies, 7-2, at Smokies Park. Frisco was led by 23-year old shortstop Helmut Scully, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives Frisco a season record of 48-44.

Stockton Hanan had a big solo home run for the RoughRiders in the top of the second inning. With Frisco leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jacob Viens and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the RoughRiders on top, 2-0.

Scully attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
