Blue Wahoos Rebuff Aces, 5-4
|
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos had to overcome a big game from Alexandria first baseman Mario Yamagata to leave Rebels Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Yamagata was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Vincent Mack, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The save went to Elvin Alvira, his 3rd this season.
The Blue Wahoos got a big at-bat from designated hitter Eldon Henderson. For the game, Henderson was 2 for 4 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Pensacola a 4-1 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Alexandria manager Bryan Dedmon. "The effort was great."
Pensacola is now 37-53, Alexandria 39-51.
