Guest Crabs Win, 10-7, at Hartford
|
The Hartford Yard Goats and Providence Crabs were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Luis Maria Gaytan was a major factor in the 10-7 Providence win over Hartford. The Crabs second baseman went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Billy Charbonneau earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
Providence used the bat of Jonny Souza to get the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Crabs ahead, 7-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Souza.
Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Crabs hope to make a postseason run.
