Pilots Use Late Rally to Win
|
Getting a good performance from third baseman Eli Branch, the Wichita Pilots defeated the Somerset Patriots, 5-3. Branch went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Pilots. Josiah Ficek, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win, Wichita goes to 13-11.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman T.J. Williams came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Somerset pitcher Parker Corrado, he hit a 1-0 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Wichita on top, 4-3.
Williams said afterward that "winning is the goal."
