The Scottsdale Salamanders finished off the Sierra Vista Hummingbirds, 6-0. Much of the credit belonged to center fielder Calvin Pascoe. Pascoe was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Salamanders. Scottsdale reliever Ray Larsen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Donaldo Recoba was saddled with the loss. The Salamanders raised their record to 4-0.

Scottsdale used a clutch at-bat from Eric Bennett to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Salamanders ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Scottsdale manager Lawrence Crocker.
