Pilots Earn 4-2 Road Win Over Portland
|
The Wichita Pilots and Portland Sea Dogs played an exciting game.
The Wichita Pilots spoiled a good performance by Portland shortstop Brent Gallagher Jr., bumping off Portland, 4-2, at Hadlock Field. Gallagher Jr. went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Zachary Estrada, who is tied for 9th in the EL in innings pitched with 31.1, was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was Randy Alix. Blake Smith earned the save, his 1st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Robert McCaffrey? The Wichita first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Pilots on top, 3-0. For the game, McCaffrey had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said McCaffrey. "It sure beats the alternative."
The loss lowers the Portland record to 17-9.
