For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.

The Chandler Ranchers defeated the Florence Swordfish in 10 innings, 8-6, in part because of second baseman Yorvit Smith. Smith went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Ranchers. The loss puts Florence at 1-7.

The decisive blow was delivered by Livio Cornejo in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old left-handed pitcher Oliver Hines to win the game for Chandler. The home crowd went nuts.

"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Florence manager Eric Goff.
