The Scottsdale Salamanders and Glendale Gauchos left the fans buzzing.

The Glendale Gauchos beat the Scottsdale Salamanders, 6-1. Glendale pitcher and Hoover, Alabama, native Lyle Sponseller led the way. With the win, Glendale is 2-3.

Sponseller, the winner, is now 1-0. In 7.1 innings of work, he gave up no runs on no hits, while collecting 12 Ks. He essentially shut down the Scottsdale offense.

"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Sponseller, cracking a smile.
