The Glendale Gauchos got a superb performance from pitcher Kermit Sherman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Daytona Beach. The Hurricanes won the game, 1-0. Sherman threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Wendell Downey picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Kermit Sherman was tagged with the loss. Bill Gibbs earned the save for Daytona Beach, his 1st of the year.

Making an impact for Daytona Beach was Dylan Drake. In the top of the sixth inning, the 18-year old third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0, Hurricanes.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Hurricanes manager Scott Edwards. "This one was nice to get."

The loss lowers the Glendale record to 2-5.
