Sam Torres pitched well, but the Mesa Saguaros still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the Ahwatukee Roughnecks at Roughnecks Ballpark. Ahwatukee reliever Noah Barron picked up the win to move to 1-0. Sam Torres suffered the loss. The win gives Ahwatukee a record of 7-5.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 20-year old first baseman Leo Soto had a chance to be the hero. Mesa pitcher Oliver Kishor wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Soto drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Roughnecks had themselves a thrilling win.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Ahwatukee manager Silvino Montalvo said.
