The 8-2 Mesa win over Tempe was due largely to Glenn Mellies. The Saguaros shortstop went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Josh Cobb earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. With the win, Mesa lifts its record to 6-7.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Saguaros grabbed the lead when Mellies hit his 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Ned Weist made it 3-2, Mesa.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Mellies told the Mesa Bulletin.
