The Mesa Saguaros topped the Gilbert Geckos, 6-4, in Arizona Rookie League action at Capitals Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Mesa center fielder Adam Messick. Joël Snoeijs picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Roman De Anda was tagged with the loss. The Saguaros, now 11-3, have hit the ground running this season.

Had Robert Tate not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Tate hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Saguaros.

"Whatever it takes to win," said Messick. "That's our attitude."
