Gauchos Defeated, 5-3, After Chandler Rallies

The Chandler Ranchers topped the Glendale Gauchos, 5-3, in Arizona Rookie League action at Ballpark of Hanapepe. The standout performance belonged to Chandler pitcher and Cambridge, Massachusetts, native Jason Towery. David Jones earned the save, his 3rd. The victory gives Chandler a record of 8-8.
Had Dylan Greer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Greer hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Ranchers.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Chandler manager Derick Fernandez.
