Flamingos Beaten by Hurricanes, 5-2
|
The Daytona Beach Hurricanes beat the Fort Myers Flamingos, 5-2, at Osceola County Stadium. Pedro Airo went 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The slick-fielding second baseman was a menace to Fort Myers all day. Tracey Palmer was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Fergie Barten finished the game for Daytona Beach and earned his 1st save.
Airo contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Daytona Beach in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Airo took a fastball from Cale Jacquez and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Hurricanes to leap in front, 3-1.
Airo said his team "executed a good game plan."
Fort Myers drops to 1-7.
