In a low-scoring contest between the Mesa Saguaros and the Flagstaff Blue Devils, 19-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Torres proved to be the difference. The Mesa right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Saguaros win. Kyler Den Boer, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Gonzalo Perez earned save number 4 this season.

Mesa used the timely hitting of Zakary Stafford to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Saguaros on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Sam gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Mesa skipper Greyson Harrington.

The win makes Mesa 8-8.
