Spoonbills Defeat Swordfish, 6-4
|
The Hollywood Spoonbills relied on the hitting of second baseman Ed Renteria to stop the Florence Swordfish, 6-4. For the game, Renteria went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Andy Jeter came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Josiah Kamboj picked up the save for Hollywood, his 2nd of the year.
Hollywood used a clutch hit from Everton Schrank to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Spoonbills ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Schrank called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder."
The win gives Hollywood a record of 4-6.
