Jim Clark, despite pitching well, was dismayed with the outcome: a hard-fought, 2-1 Kingman Torts defeat at the hands of the Gilbert Geckos at Camelback Ranch. Zenaido Mejia, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. The Geckos, now 16-12, have won 4 in a row.
The Geckos got a big at-bat from catcher Rod Ennis. For the game, Ennis went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Gilbert a 2-0 lead.
In postgame remarks, Ennis hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
