The Gilbert Geckos did just enough to sneak past the Scottsdale Salamanders, 4-3, at Camelback Ranch. Gilbert pitcher Jim Strausbaugh, in particular, had a standout performance. Rex Shofner earned the save, his 1st, for the Geckos. Gilbert is 14-19 and Scottsdale, with the loss, 19-14.

The Geckos got a big at-bat from designated hitter Yesus Rosiaro. For the game, Rosiaro was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Gilbert a 4-0 lead.

"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Strausbaugh.
