Pit Spitters Lose Late, 6-4
|
The Carolina Mudcats topped the Traverse City Pit Spitters, 6-4, in East Coast League action at Five County Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Fred Rogers. Carolina reliever Eli Berube picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Howie Wright was tagged with the loss. Roberto Nevarez finished the game for Carolina and earned his 1st save.
Carolina took a 6-4 lead on Heath Bertalot's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Bertalot hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Traverse City pitcher Howie Wright visibly frustrated.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Rogers.
Carolina is now 11-18, Traverse City 15-14.
