Blue Devils Pin 5-1 Loss on Peoria
|
The Flagstaff Blue Devils picked up a win at Camelback Ranch, knocking off the Peoria Pride, 5-1. Starting pitcher Mike Martinson played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Martinson, now 1-1. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. With the win, Flagstaff has a record of 13-20. Peoria falls to 23-10.
Flagstaff won the game in part because of Patrick Hemlock. The shortstop ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Blue Devils ahead, 3-0. For the game, Hemlock had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Mike did a heck of a job," said Flagstaff manager Elvis García.
