On a Roll: Absher Hits for Cycle
Wednesday, August 16th , 2051
Elliot Absher punished the New Orleans Baby Cakes today, leading the 66ers to a 6-5 win. In doing so, Absher hit for the cycle, tagging the Baby Cakes for 4 hits in 6 at-bats.
A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season.
"Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Inland Empire first baseman said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes."
Absher also had 4 RBI and 1 run scored in the game at Zephyr Field.
Elliot Absher flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off José Hernández in the 11th, tripled in the 13th and walked in a run in the 15th.
Batting .287 to date, Absher has 10 home runs and 46 RBIs.
