Ernest Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
Thursday, July 13th , 2051
DeJon Ernest was jubilant as the Olympia Spartans left the field with a 17-0 win over the Rogue Valley Dodgers today. He had every right to be.

The 23-year-old first baseman hit for the cycle at Ballpark of Victoria, had a 5-for-6 game and chalked up 5 RBI and 3 runs to boot.

"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Ernest said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."

Olympia manager Jorge Leston was "proud" of the first baseman's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.

"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," the skipper said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."

DeJon Ernest hit a solo-shot off Josh Tolbert in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Ernest is batting .372 this season in 22 games with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 86 at-bats.
