Mota Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Friday, July 11th , 2031 After his 5-hit effort at JetBlue Park was tarnished by West Palm Beach's 12-5 loss to the Fort Myers Flamingos, shortstop Nando Mota told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 19-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Flamingos. "His swing is getting there," said Dolphins skipper Brian Barrowcliff after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Nando did that to perfection today and we wasted it." Nando Mota hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Ramon Brooks in the 9th. So far this season Mota is hitting .397 with 1 home run, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 27 hits in 68 at-bats and a .400 OBP. View Boxscore |
